SUMMARY:

This study is part of the actions of the Amapá/GPGEO GEOdiversity Research Group, coordinated by prof. Dr. Valter Gama de Avelar, as a way of disseminating geoknowledge with a view to the geoconservation of Geodiversity Interest Sites/LIG and the development of regional geotourism. Its locus is the municipality of Santana-AP and seeks to analyze how LIG inventory can contribute to the development and appreciation of geodiversity, boosting geotourism in the region. The research involves theoretical-conceptual and cartographic research, field visits, photographic records, GPS, drones, printed maps and educational materials. Five LIGs have already been preliminarily identified: 1 - Former ICOMI Port; 2 - The Ruins of Fort Cumaú; 3 - Santana Island (Recanto da Aldeia beach, trails, cliffs, distinct ecosystems, leisure, gastronomy); 4 – Church of Vila Vistosa de Nossa Senhora Madre de Deus, on the Vila Nova River and 5 – The Quilombola Community of Igarapé do Lago. These locations have significant geotourism potential and can promote the environmental, cultural and economic appreciation of the region. The existence of stone heritage in Santana-AP (Ruins of Forte Cumaú; Church of Vila Vistosa de Nossa Senhora Madre de Deus), also preserves the richness of the historical-cultural heritage. Studying them represents a fundamental demand for their geoconservation, safeguarding the memory of Amapá's history for future generations. The importance of the participation of the local community in the LIG geoconservation process is highlighted, as as experts and maintainers of local information, they are inexhaustible sources of popular knowledge. Thus, through their oral/reports and photographic records, they provide important instruments to enhance and leverage research. At the end of this work, the aim is to develop geotouristic itineraries in order to support actions for sustainable development.
