SUMMARY:

Introduction: violence against women is a serious violation of human rights that affects the physical and mental health of victims, requiring effective public policies for prevention and support. In this sense, the Maria da Penha Law and other Brazilian regulations represent advances in the protection of women, but the underreporting and persistence of sexual violence reveal the need to improve care and awareness, in addition to strengthening surveillance and notification systems. Objective: to characterize the socioepidemiological profile of women victims of sexual violence in Macapá-AP from 2012 to 2022. Materials and methods: documentary, retrospective study, with a quantitative approach. Cases of sexual violence from the municipality of Macapá, state of Amapá, reported to the Notifiable Injuries Information System, between 2012 and 2022, through Notification forms, were included. The data were analyzed with the aid of Jamovi Software, through descriptive analysis (frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation). The incidence rate was calculated based on reported cases and the population at risk, and the variation in the rate over time was analyzed. This research used exclusively public domain data. Results: between 2012 and 2022, 848 reports of sexual violence against women were recorded in Macapá, with variations in the incidence rate over the years, with 2022 being the year with the highest number of reports. The analysis revealed that most victims were girls aged 1 to 14, self-declared brown skin color, with low levels of education, and that the aggressor, in more than 40% of cases, was known to the victim. Logistic regression showed that younger women, with less education, and black or brown skin color are more likely to be victims, and that violence occurs predominantly in homes and is often associated with the use of alcohol by the aggressors. The southern part of the city had the highest number of reports of sexual violence, with 377 cases (41,38%), followed by the northern part with 327 cases (35,85%). The year 2022 recorded the highest peak in reports, totaling 145 cases, while 2012 had the lowest number, with 48 reports. Conclusion: this study reveals the serious situation of sexual violence against women in Macapá-AP between 2012 and 2022, highlighting the vulnerability of girls aged 1 to 14, especially in family contexts and related to alcohol use. The analysis points to flaws in data collection and reporting, hindering the accuracy of information and the implementation of effective policies. It is urgent to create intersectoral public policies that combat the structural causes of violence and promote the protection and empowerment of women and children.
