SUMMARY:

User satisfaction is a factor that favors adherence to treatment and strengthens the
creation of bonds and conditions to establish a better relationship between the patient
and the healthcare team. In this sense, the objective of this research is to evaluate the
reference service for people living with HIV in the basic health unit of the Federal
University of Amapá after 1 year and 7 months of implementation. This is a descriptive
study with a quantitative approach. For data collection, the medical records of people
living with HIV were used, after which the Statistical Package for the Social Science
(SPSS - version 21.0) software was used for statistical treatment. User satisfaction
was measured by a questionnaire composed of sixteen questions referring to different
aspects related to the UBS, being measured by a Likert scale of 5 items: (1) Very
dissatisfied, (2) Dissatisfied, (3) Indifferent (not satisfied and nor dissatisfied), (4)
satisfied and (5) very satisfied. For the analysis, the results were grouped into two
classifications, being "satisfied", when referred to as "very satisfied" or "satisfied", and
"dissatisfied" when referring to any of the other items. Chi-square test of homogeneity
was used to compare the proportion of satisfied PLHIV who gave low and high scores
to the services offered. A significance level of 5% was adopted for all tests performed.
Among the results, regarding the sociodemographic profile of the participants, there
was a predominance of men, adults, of economically active age, brown, single, with

higher education. There was statistical significance for all variables under analysis (p-
value < 0.05). Regarding user satisfaction with the services provided by UBS, they

were evaluated positively in general. A significant difference was observed in the 16
variables that reflect satisfaction, always demonstrating greater satisfaction in users
who classified their service as having a high score (p < 0.000). Although all aspects

were well evaluated in the high-scoring services, aspects related to the professional-
patient relationship stand out. The items with the highest degree of satisfaction were

the respect for how one is treated, the professionals' in-depth understanding of the
treatment, ease in scheduling the next appointments and general satisfaction with the
experience and the act of recommending UBS to other people. Aspects related to the
functioning of the UBS service, such as the time spent for the consultation, privacy
during the consultation, availability of suitable times for the consultation and
convenience of the UBS location, presented the lowest percentages of satisfaction. In
view of such findings, the need to consider the multiple dimensions in confronting the
AIDS epidemic becomes urgent, which must be based on the creation of unique
therapeutic plans that are coherent with the real needs and demands presented by
subjects living with AIDS. illness. It is concluded, therefore, that satisfaction in all the
aspects investigated may be linked to the quality indicators of the services provided,
making it necessary to explore them in other contexts and, thus, contribute to the
integrality of care in this population.
