SUMMARY:

With the creation of rural settlements in the state of Amapá, a new development logic arises with elements of political decisions for the region. Among the various established settlements, there is a present practice of peasant rationality, power relations between the settled populations and local public policies, as well as the challenges of development. This study aims to investigate family agriculture in its historical-cultural and socioeconomic context, characterizing the activities carried out and possible benefits generated by the application of social and technological innovation for development in the Corre Água community, located in the rural area of the capital Macapá, delimited in this study for the period (2020-2024). The implementation of public policies and the establishment of power relations between means of production and capital will be fundamental to overcoming limitations, strengthening sustainable family agriculture. In Amapá, agriculture is primarily concentrated on grain production and livestock, with rice, cowpea, cassava, and corn being prominent in grain production. In this study, we will focus on the cassava farming activity. According to data from Embrapa, in 2015, this activity had the highest production in the state, responsible for 88.83% of the flour from agricultural establishments. The current world presents significant challenges due to its contradictions, the urgent climate changes, land conflicts, and the lack of connection between farmers and markets. Even so, we believe in many possibilities for the insertion of technology and innovation to ensure the permanence of these populations in the fields of the Amazon. We will describe the elements that make the rural communities of Macapá, especially in the São Joaquim do Pacuí district, a reference in cassava production. We will explore how practices and the culture employed have contributed to demographic growth and economic development, the challenges of production, subsistence, technology adoption, training, and access to public policies. We will seek to answer these concerns in this study with the participation of families and young people involved in family agriculture in the region.
