SUMMARY:
In 2021, the declaration on forests and land use was the first major agreement announced during the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which set the goal of ending deforestation worldwide by 2030. Brazil announced its individual goal of eliminating illegal deforestation by 2028. In light of this, the main objective of this research is to analyze the spatial-temporal dynamics of fire hotspots, deforestation, and CO2 emissions in the state of Amapá. The methodology will consist of the following steps: a) use of remote sensing tools and secondary data from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) to locate and quantify applications based on the ease of representation, importation, and availability of remote information acquisition on a large scale for the study area; b) use of the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) algorithm for preprocessing and processing satellite images; c) use of the TimeManager algorithm to perform temporal analyses, comparing images from 2012 to 2021 and quantifying the classes based on the increase or decrease of geographic data available for the region. Thus, the study will contribute by providing systematic and accurate information on fire hotspots, deforestation, and CO2 emissions in Amapá, generating an overview of these environmental factors, as well as the context in which they exist. Consequently, this will enable the responsible environmental agencies to monitor and inspect these events, serving as a guiding tool for public authorities in monitoring and awareness policies suited to sustainable regional development in the state of Amapá.
