SUMMARY:

The development of the urban structure of the city of Macapá was marked by a series of historical, political and social changes, which deepened after the transformation of the Federal Territory into the State of Amapá. In this context, the research has as its guiding axis what are the social, political and economic causes that determined the origin and formation of neighborhoods in the city of Macapá between 1980 and 1990? Analyzing, as a general objective, the origin and formation of neighborhoods in the city of Macapá in the period from 1980 to 1990. The methodological procedures will be guided by a qualitative approach, with an emphasis on documentary research based on development plans, master plans, public reports , historical newspapers and letters from the clergyman, comparative aspects of the urban expansion process of older neighborhoods in the city of Macapá, main implications for the Macapá population. As an extension of the understanding of the object, it is expected to explore the urban memory of the city of Macapá, highlighting the challenges and potential of creating neighborhoods in the city of Macapá, as one of the instruments for the urban planning of the territory.
